A Simple Summer Travels Skincare Routine

This post has been sponsored by Cetaphil®. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Summer is upon us and with the warmer months here, that means it’s also time for lots of trips ahead! From a birthday Summer in Maui to wine tasting trips up north and everything in between, summertime is my favorite time of year to travel to get that warm weather but avoid the summer humidity. But it doesn’t come without challenges. The change in season also calls for a change in skincare!

As a travel blogger, we’re on the road a lot all year round and I quickly learned that I can’t comprise skincare just because I’m traveling. And you shouldn’t either! Especially because it’s so easy to maintain a healthy skincare routine year round with Cetaphil® Daily Facial Cleanser.

In the winter, I’m always having to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize due to all the dry air inside and the cold winds outside. But summer is different. Depending on where I am, the air could be moist due to rain, which makes my skin happier, or I could be sunburnt if I’m traveling somewhere tropical, like in Hawaii this past April. No matter where I am, my skin (and your skin as well) needs to be treated with different TLC to match the season and climate.

During warm weather trips, my skincare routine is basic and focuses on the key components: a fantastic facial cleanser and a light moisturizer that doubles as sunscreen.

I’ve found that it’s so easy to pick up a bottle of the Cetaphil® Daily Facial Cleanser at Target during our normal weekly shopping. This bottle lasts a good amount of time, too. This product is kind to my already sensitive skin,
which is extra needed during trips I get sunburnt on and my face is even more sensitive. (Sorry, skin!!) But, even though it’s light, it’s powerful and takes away all the bad things while leaving the good oils. That’s why it makes a great facial cleanser to use daily—but especially during trips.

So, each day before running around wherever or exploring, I begin my summer skincare routine. It goes likes this:

  1. Put on a hotel robe because ROBE LIFE IS AMAZING ya’ll
  2. Wash my face with Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser
  3. Pat dry
  4. Two pumps of Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15
In the mornings, I usually just rinse my face with a splash of water as my skin doesn’t get very oily when I sleep, just over the course of the day. Then, I reapply Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15 (also found at Target) before starting on my makeup and additional sunscreen if needed. You can never have too much SPF on, ladies!

As I’ve mentioned before, I personally love wearing minimal makeup during the summer when I’m tan. I have lots of freckles, and I love to let those pop instead of hiding them under a heavy foundation. This is especially true on trips when I try to not overpack on beauty supplies. But, to pull that minimal effortless look off, I need to make sure I have
a solid skincare routine in place first.

While in Hawaii, I actually used close to 3-4 pumps of Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15 each evening because I got sunburnt each day—no matter how hard I tried to avoid it. (Maui sun is harsh!!) But I have learned on past trips that if I slather on a good moisturizer AND also aloe on my face in the evening, it’ll help quickly turn that
sunburn into a tan. You should try that next time you are traveling and get sunburnt!

So that’s my summertime skincare routine! These two products are super easy to find at Target and easy to bring along in your suitcase as they don’t take up much space but are powerful products! Save $2 off Cetaphil product here. #winning
